508 Diagnostic communication error

Unread post by Hanso »

Hi.

2012 508SW GT 2.2 diesel
I have refilled my dpf tank and am trying to reset the counter with diagbox. It reads all the faults but after initiating the reset it just comes back with a "unsuccessful" and "communication error". I took it to a independent garage and they encountered the same problem. Not too sure what diagnostic equipment they were using.

Unfortunately this can be an issue. It should be done via the repair menu in Diagbox, but - if you bought a cheaper diagnostic clone it may not be able to communicate with full CAN vehicles. The VCI needs to be a revision 'C', full chip unit which cost more than the cheaper versions that have some of the hardware missing.

If you do have a full chip kit, then your DIagbox software version may be the issue - what Diagbox version are you using? Stick to V7.58 or 7.62 if you can, which should be more than adequate for a 2012 model.

Failing that, you may need the Peugeot dealer to do it using their kosha kit, unless the pump has had it.

Hi Marc,

Thanks for the reply. It's v7.02. I'll update it to the mentioned version and try again. Not too sure about the interface. According to the seller it's the latest version.

Ok, don't go past 7.62 as certain features are removed on versions later than this. See how you go.
