DS7 Prestige - Service Spanner

Unread post by Iansel »

The car is just two years old and the service light (spanner) has now come on but its only done 4500 miles in the last year due to covid lock-downs. It doesn't really need a service right now.

Of course i can just ignore it but i thought i would ask ....

Is there any way of resetting the service interval/period without having to connect the car to a diagnostic computer?

And I'm in deepest rural France 55km from nearest DS garage.

Probably a red herring but my C5 always set the service light when the screenwash was low.
Indicated on the center screen briefly but service light stayed on.
Could be something as trivial as that.

Servicing really should be done either at the recommended interval, or if it isn’t doing the miles, every 2 years.

Things like brake fluid age, discs can rust or seize, and a dealer service will check everything.

To reset manually:

If you have serviced your vehicle yourself:
► Switch off the ignition.
► Press and hold the button located on the end of the wiper control stalk.
► Switch on the ignition; a temporary display window appears and a countdown begins.
► When the display indicates =0, release the button; the spanner disappears.

Yes, unfortunately a red herring! However it would help if they had fitted a low washer fluid sensor and warning instead of letting you guess.

I'm pretty confident on the mechanics being absolutely fine so I wanted to try your reset suggestion.

By 'turn off/on the ignition' I presume you mean stop/start the engine as I don't know how to turn on just the ignition. When I press the button and stop/start the engine I get a message saying "Service overdue by 100Km" and the spanner flashes but no countdown. After I turn of and on again the spanner is still there.

So I thought to myself what can I do now. Light bulb moment..... try the other (Cruise control) stalk and lo and behold my spanners have disappeared.

Thanks Marc

Hi Ian, with Stop & Start and Keyless starting, to switch the ignition on only, press the Stop Start button without putting your foot on any of the pedals (brake for an auto or depressing the clutch on a manual. To turn the ignition off, just repeat this.

No worries, but the manual does specifically mention using the wiper stalk for the reset - so not sure what happened there..... anyway it won't be the first time they have made typos like that!
