3008 additive level too low in display

Unread post by JA_SWE »

Hello

I got two message in the display saying:
Engine fault: Repair needed
and
Particle filter additive level too low: Repair needed

Came up directly after i filled up full tank of diesel at the gasstation.

The car is a 3008 1.6 hdi with 163474 km and manufactured november 2013.
And the VIN VF3**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

Diagbox says HDI_SID807_BR2
P15B3 (additive)
and
P2299 (accelerator pedal position)

Is the eolys pouch empty ? Or is this just a reminder / warning ?
Is it possible to drive a week or two (1000-2000 km) with this message in display ?

Do somebody please kindly know what type of eolys or part no i need ?
A quick look under the vehicle shows a white colour of the click-fit.

Thank you
Regards

P15B3 means your additive reservoir minimum level has been reached. Note that this is determined from the estimated quantity remaining (it is not physically measured in the tank) against the miles remaining until your next scheduled maintenance service. If the engine ECU calculates you will run out of fluid before the next due service it will flag up the warning.

Don't let it run out - or you can damage the pump and that can be expensive. So to answer your question, when you switch on the ignition, how many KMs are indicated until your next service?

I would get it topped up before you go to be honest as it's not worth the risk of damaging the pump. You have a tank system not a pouch. As for the type of additive you have a Euro 5 car Built November 12 2013, so it would be either Eolys Powerflex fluid that was used or Eolys Extend. These 2 can't be mixed together, so it depends on how much fluid is remaining in the tank and what was originally used. Your dealer may be able to confirm what was originally used.

As for your other fault, P2299, that indicates: Measurement of the accelerator pedal position: Pedal jammed or applied at the same time as the brake pedal, so it is detecting both brake and accelerator pressed at the same time for a few seconds. This may be cleared driving for 5 minutes. If you have very wide shoes or sandals / flip flops, these can cause this behaviour and are not recommended for driving.

Ok, so the engine ECU estimates it will run out of additive before this next service interval (when it would normally be topped up with your agreement). How long before this is, I can't say of course.

I called the dealer and was told 167 GBP (196 eur) for complete labour and fluid.
Unfortunately they were not able to fix it before 2 weeks away.
But i was surprised by the price.
