Hi can you tell me if the steering rack from VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] will fit my c5?
Also is it hydraulic?

Re: sterring rack check
I can, but 2 things:
1) That VIN is completely wrong
2) When you confirm the correct VIN above, I need to know which of your other 2 C5 X7 VINS to compare it with - the one ending in 100 or 705?

Re: sterring rack check
I realised you had provided an incorrect VIN in your initial post above - so edited my post - can you check the VIN again and advise?

Re: sterring rack check
If I use the VIS (the last 8 digits) the first part should be:
V-F-7-R-D-R-H-R-H
Not
V-F-7-R-D-9-H-Z-C
V-F-7-R-D-R-H-R-H
Not
V-F-7-R-D-9-H-Z-C

Re: sterring rack check
If I have the the corrected VIN above, then no it will not fit, as this is for a left hand drive model.
For your C5 VIN ending 100 you need a 180° Rack and one of the following part numbers:
New: 9801415480
Exchange: 1663665380
Be careful as some part numbers look identical but have one or 2 digit variations. These are the only 2 part numbers that are compatible with your C5.

Re: sterring rack check
Thanks. VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] has 17" alloys so I thought it might fit, but it must have been a 1.6.GiveMeABreak wrote: 29 Jul 2021, 15:05 As I mentioned in my last post - no it won't fit. I've provided the correct part numbers for you.

Re: sterring rack check
That was a left hand drive......
It's not just engine size, there can be different steering rack angles for 1.6 engines too. The part number I provided for your car also fits several other X7 specific 2.0 HDi and 2.2 engines as an example.
