Peugot 207cc THP150 gearbox/transmission mount

Unread post by Tiberius »

Hi guys. When I start my car the engine drops sharply to the front right (as if standing in front of car) which, to me, indicates a failed gearbox mount? It was mentioned as something to watch on my MOT. The thing is I have no idea how to replace it apart from jacking the car up and using a trolley jack to support the gearbox. I have tried Googling "How to replace Peugot 207cc gearbox mount" but all I get is the old 207 or the 308hdi options. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Pictures/diagrams would be a huge help. I have the tools but not the knowledge as I'm only used to working on my previous 505SR.

Thanks

I did the clutch on my wife's 207cc recently, using youTube and Haynes manual. Some very good videos out there. Obviously to get to the clutch the gearbox comes off, for the gear box to come off, the mount must come off. I would have a look at some of the videos and invest in a Haynes.
First thing to do is make sure you are looking at the correct thing and hopefully it is the mount and not something else, like the casing. There may be an anti-torque bracket to be checked first, usually at the bottom of the gearbox/bellhouse braced back to the body. Also, from bitter experience on other cars, make sure you order the correct mount, manufacturers seem to like changing these ever so often, just for fun. Other than that it is straight forward mechanical work.

I already tried to find something on youTube but could find nothing and I also have Haynes online but the one I have is for the 308 which has the same ep6 Prince engine. Haynes doesn't do a manual specifically for the 207cc and, as far as I know, there isn't one.

No Haynes for the 207cc derivative, agreed. But a manual for the generic 207 which I find is good enough.
shows a clutch replacement, about 4 min shows the torque bracket I mentioned and about 6 min onwards shows how to get to the top mount. Use these as guidance as specific models have their own characteristics.
