Fuse 8 blowing

Hi all I have a partner van 06 1.9d
When I turn key on it blows fuse 8 under bonnet don’t think it’s the starter as it blows just when it go’s to on position sometimes u can start van up and can run for few days before blowing and stopping has anyone any ideas cheers

Possibly the insulation on a wire has worn through so shorting it to earth as the switch is used to make fuse 8 live. If you know what fuse 8 serves you can trace the wiring after the fuse. Could also be a faulty component after fuse 8 or water ingress.
