Exhaust manifold leaking

My C5 2005 2.0 HDI 138 has sprung an exhaust manifold leak. Its a slow leak but the black soot in the EGR Cooler area and the smell are signs though I dont hear anything.

Is it a full engine out job ?

thankfully it wasn't the manifold. it was the oil breather pipe dripping oil droplets on a hot engine and making the burnt oil rising up in fumes!
