mk3 c5 coolant

Unread post by Agour »

Hi all!

I've got a mk3 tourer (2009), and the coolant level ls slightly bellow minimum level.

I've done a bit of reading, and it seems like I might need a certain kind of special coolant, rather than generic off the shelf stuff?

For what its worth the car has red stuff in it now, but I have no idea what type/brand etc.

Any ideas?
Thanks!

If you are not sure what coolant is in there you probably should drain her completely down, flush her clear, and then put fresh coolant in. Some coolants, when mixed together, can turn into a sludge like material.

Citroen now use Freecor DSCAntifreeze which is approved by PSA according to specification B71 5110.

Their web site states that it can be used in ... Battery Electric Vehicles. I'm very curious to know where.

For cooling the batteries in fully electric or hybrid vehicles Paul - these have quite comprehensive cooling systems.

That makes sense.

Cool thanks all, I'll get the system drained and refilled as it seems the safest option

Just in case, you should also have the system flushed through with plain water to remove traces of the previous coolant.
