RT3 Software Error

So if not a problem i will need to jump in this discusion, as i have similar problem, just bought car with unknown orgin of stuf on it XD, its 407sw 2005....head unit has big screen and it plays cds, climatic control shows up, if i insert cd that came with it in car it shows map, but each time i start car i get mesage on main screen saying !Software versions Incopatible. Insert the configuration CD-ROM...!

When i pres and hold menu buton, under unit description i have folowing

I ordered pp2000 and it will be on my addres in 2 weeks as i need to check other codes from ecu, im geting p1351 in delphi...But im intrested first on fixing that head unit as it anoys me so much, any help i would be nice.

It sounds like you have the RT3 system installed, so I have moved this tit he RT3 Forum.

Lexia won't help you here I'm afraid. There's not a lot they can do with the telematics units. This is a very old system now, so it is highly likely the hard drive is failing or has a lot of bad sectors, so it keeps asking for the firmware CD.

There is a later firmware (the last one produced) than the V6.6 that you would appear to have, but I would not recommend updating it whilst there are these sorts of issues, otherwise you may exacerbate the problem further if it is the hard drive. These units are very rare now and hard to come by.

You may be able to contact Karim from Autronics listed in the repair section here, who has experience of fixing these:

This is my headunit, i understand its old, but i think something could be done to fix it, is it posible to replace hdd, like if i clone it to other one or something, or may it be only simple software problem?

Ok, so if you don't have the software CD, I can maybe help with that. But I'll provide the current version for what you have.

You will have to burn the ISO file on a CR-R at the LOWEST speed (no more than X4) or guaranteed it will fail.

If the unit is not VIN coded, it would keep 'beeping' all the time, so probably not that.

But if the previous owner has tried to update the firmware with the wrong version, then that could be terminal.....

So no harm in trying with the V6.6 that I think it wants.

yea i want it, just will need guide for steps needed to be done, my unit has cd changer in back of car, it has navi, and cd in front head unit too ass seen from pictures...

Yes, I know what you have - I used to have this myself many years ago in my MK II C5. But it will help if you put your VIN up, so I can double check what the car had originally - just in case.

The CD changer can't be used for the firmware installation - you will need to use the single CD slot in the Head Unit.

Well i got stuck at start, my cd writers, 2 on laptops and one external usb one, dont support writing cd-r in 1-2-4x all starts at 10x and more, and i tryed to burn on 2 cds and radio dont detect anything

Unfortunately this is an age-related issue with the technology.

I suggest you contact your Peugeot dealer and ask for the firmware on CD-ROM - the parts are still showing as available - there was an original and a later version, but I can't tell you which one you need, so best to speak to them. They should be able to tell you which one you need for the system / version on your vehicle. As you have seen, modern burn speeds are too high for the older system to read properly, but you shouldn't have an issue with a genuine one from Peugeot.

Some 'burning' software can allow you to set the speed you burn the disc at, so that could be worth looking into.

All fine, at the end i wrote cd at 24x and all was fine, only i was mislead by guide of starting instalation, i insert cd and unit reboots after that and does not start or ask to install anything, i was geting mesage "call service center number....YES....NO" i was constantly going on no, thinking it wants to make a call.....today i tryed again, and when it showed that mesage, i marked yes, and wailaaaaa it went trought procedure and now all works great....thank you wery much GiveMeABreak....

No worries - in some cases it doesn't need a full reinstallation of the firmware, just the CD to replace any missing files.
