Re: speedometer not working
Almost certainly the distance sensor on the gearbox/diff has failed, or the connections to it. Not unusual.
The distance sensor feeds both speedoometer and CC, and data to any trip computer.

Re: speedometer not working
Is the speedo just staying at 0 or showing dashes? same question about the odometer.
Its highly unlikely this car will have a separate speed sensor in the gearbox. Speed & distance information will come from the ABS unit.
Strange you don't have any ABS warning lights on?
First thing I would do is get the ABS system on diagnostics live data & check the speed reading on each wheel.

Re: speedometer not working
Pop up your VIN, and we can check whether there's a speed sensor or not.

Re: speedometer not working
hi wheeler the speedo is just showing 0 , I have had someone put a snap on diagnostics on the car, which came up with numerous fault codes. the car is also showing the stop light on dash, also the (!) light is on dash. i can write down all the fault codes that came up if that helps. I also think the car is restricted in some way, cause it will not beyond approx 70mph . other than that the car drives ok. and no abs light ??????

A list of fault codes may be helpful.Jwcash123 wrote: 29 May 2021, 21:06 hi wheeler the speedo is just showing 0 , I have had someone put a snap on diagnostics on the car, which came up with numerous fault codes. the car is also showing the stop light on dash, also the (!) light is on dash. i can write down all the fault codes that came up if that helps. Re: speedometer not working
Does look as if speed sensing is done via ABS rings.
Those would feed both speedometer/odometer and cruise control.

Citroen C4 2012 VTR
i am experiencing numerous problems with my C4,
Stop light displayed , engine fault repair needed displayed, when I try to drive above 65-70 mph the service light comes on with a bleep and it will not accelerate. also looses power up hill, also have numerous electrical faults. No speedo(reads zero) , no mileage (does not go up), no cruise control , no rear parking sensors, had it plugged into a snap on diagnostic from a friend and it had a list of fault codes. any help would be greatly appreciated . some have been cleared but not sure if they have returned,

Re: speedometer not working
Most of those faults concern equipment related to the engine fuse box.
Have you changed the Engine Fuse box? If so the engine fuse boxes on this model need configuring. The faults are saying that there is a mis-configuration (B1003) and I suspect the rest are all related or as a result.

Re: speedometer not working
Hi marc , thanks for your reply , Ive only recently purchased the car and have no idea what previous might have changed or done to the car. I have tested the fuses with a multimeter and they are ok i think, i did notice one of the big fuses (maxi fuse ??) had a nut missing. so you could be correct in saying someone may have changed the fusebox!! How would i go about getting in configured ? I am thinking i might just take it to a Citroen main dealer and suffer the cost ,

Re: speedometer not working
Unlike most PSA cars, the engine fusebox on this vehicle does need configuring. It does look like somebody has been there before and if they have changed it, then this may be why you are getting all the faults if they just swapped the fuse box.
It may be your best bet if you don't have Lexia or Diagbox diagnostic equipment, as there are a significant number of parameters to configure.. If you tell Citroen that you suspect the engine fusebox has been changed but not configured, and given the B1003 error (at least) which tells you is is mis-configured, that may save some time. They should be able to configure it via internet from their servers and then check the configuration after. A diagnostic is generally about £60 - but I would expect that as you already know it is not configured correctly, that they should be able to start from there and reduce the time spent fault finding and just start configuring it.
