407 non start

Unread post by moizeau »

Just because I can't use the van due to the clutch my 407 has just broken down.
Stopped at the side of the road to answer the phone, turned the engine off. Finished the call, turned the key and I could hear a click from the glove box area but no turning over. Now I can't hear that. Plugged the 'puter in, 2 codes that I've never seen before
F085 No comms with the parking assistance
P1351, seems this one has finally turned up to I don't feel left out.

Called a mate who got the trailer home then came back to collect me with his bar, went to get the tow hook and I have got a bit of water in the wheel well. This possibly is the reason behind the first code.

The car did break down about 18 months ago with my wife behind the wheel, it just cut out and wouldn't restart, when I arrived it started fine and hasn't played up since.

I'm going to try to get to the starter motor to see if any power is getting there and check the fuses.
Has anyone got any pointers please?
Cheers
Pete

Shortest problem ever, F8 fuse for the starter. It's obviously happened in the past because the BOL's says it should be a 15A and there was a 20 in it's place (unless the book is lying, surely not). Anyway, it's got a 15A in now and I know where to check if it goes again.

Bol's is a lie, no change there then....... It is a 20A F8 under bonnet fusebox. It's done it 3 times this week then today the solenoid was just clicking, took my mate tapping the starter whilst I hit the key. Just did a google and it's a known fault to the point that the known fix (from Peugeot) is to chuck a 25A fuse in.
https://www.peugeotforums.com/threads/3 ... help.5348/ my mates missus had this also with her C4. It seems the standard response is to change the starter but apparently it's the solenoid.
I've got the starter off (quite easy tbh, pleasantly surprised) and tomorrow will pull the solenoid apart and give it a good clean and see how it goes.
Just in case it's past it's best has anyone got a part number for the solenoid please?
Now down to a bike as transport as the Dispatch is still poorly.
Cheers
