Citroen Relay Gearbox Problem

Hello everyonbe on the forum! I am here to pick the brains of all you french vehicle lovers. I have a 2001 Citroen Relay van (1.9 Diesel) which was absolutely great until the gearbox went completely kaput. Trying to track one down is proving a very hard job! I have one breaker who *may* have one but has asked me for the gearbox code to check whether or not what he has is suitable. I have been under the van for HOURS and cannot find a code. Has anyone on this lovely forum got any advice about:

1. Where I can look up or physically find the gearbox code
2. Where I may be able to source a used replacemtn gearbox for this vehicle

I have scoured eBay auctions, breakers yards, online *broker* websites that send out quote asks to various companies.

Any and all information related to this topic will be very much appreciated.
