Xsara - 2007 - Fuel Pump

Post by Andle »

Need some guidance,

The fuel pump on my Xsara.

How involved is the removal?

I would be doing this myself in the driveway.

I've never done this before.

Would appreciate advice/guidance/support.

Andle.

Which fuel pump? In tank or HP pump driven by the timing belt?

The engine driven pump is driven from the timing belt so will require you to be able to (and have the tools to) set up the valve timing plus remove & re fit the timing belt. Its also quite awkward at the back of the engine.
The in tank pump (if it has one) has no access panel in the floor so requires the fuel tank to be dropped down so will require the rear of the car to be lifted quite high to allow the tank to drop down enough to get to the pump.

Hi .. Saw this post and it is a problem I’m also experiencing. Removal of the tank shouldn’t be a headache as I have the tools and height needed to remove it. The only problem I DO have is removing the almost full tank of diesel fuel that is currently in the car.

Can I syphon the fuel out of the tank from the filler neck or failing that from the feed pipe on the fuel filter in the engine compartment?

Thanks
