Is there differences on C5 Spheres?
Hi everyone! I was wondering,is there any noticable difference when using the most expensive spheres on the market? Some people say there is,some not. What is Your expirience?

Re: Is there differences on C5 Spheres?
Genuine Citroen spheres have a multi-layer diaphragm that is less permeable and lasts longer than most other brands of spheres. A Ciroen branded multilayer sphere will typically last 15 to 20 years without requiring re-gassing, for most other brands that would be 3 to 5 years.
The quality and accuracy of the damper valves also varies from one brand to another, but price may not be a good indication of quality.

Ok,thank You very much! Some people say the 'comfort' spheres or some call them this way, have even better ride quality with them. Guess some day I might find out.xantia_v6 wrote: 26 Feb 2021, 06:36 Genuine Citroen spheres have a multi-layer diaphragm that is less permeable and lasts longer than most other brands of spheres. Don’t bother with comfort spheres on hydractive 3 plus C5s, as they will not be genuine spheres (they will have been modified) and will cancel out the benefits of the H3+ system (no sport mode or firmness correction).

Thanks Marc for very good reply! I have think about comfort spheres, but now I know, that it's unnessesary for X7 H3+.

Re: Is there differences on C5 Spheres?
In 'Normal' suspension mode on the X7, all 7 spheres are energised and in use.
When the road or driving conditions demand it, or the driver switches to Sport mode (which keeps the car in sport mode for longer than the Automatic switching mode), the centre 3 spheres are switched out, just leaving the 4 corner spheres in operation.
If you were to fit so called 'comfort' custom spheres which are not officially approved, then they will counteract the system as designed.

Re: Is there differences on C5 Spheres?
I have Munroe comforts fitted to my MKII 2.2 and love them.
At first I hardly noticed a difference but after owning a 07 MkII in standard form and jumping from one to the other, the difference was noticeable and appreciated. In fact I think they got better after the first year of use. Now 5 years in and still going strong.
I've just bought a low mileage MKII as a replacement to my 170k car and they will be transferred across. With a bit of luck I'll be able to give a long-term test report in another 5 years
Note for Marc: I don't use sport mode very often but it still shows a noticeable improvement in stiffness

Don't forget the X7 is different to previous MK I and MK II C5s in more ways than just having 7 spheres. The hydraulic blocks are different too. All these will make a considerable difference I suspect.
