Hi gang
My C5 X7 has thrown up the DPF fluid low level warning so am just asking for some pointers on how to do the job.
Simple things like what fluid, where the tank is located, where to buy the fluid from
I know i did reset the level and clear the Service light on Peters X7 a while back but have slept more than once since then and cannot find the PM from Marc with step by step directions so sorry Marc i may need them again

The tank is located as shown - rear left hand side of the fuel tank under a heat shield, item (9) on the diagram.
You need to check the clickfit connectors at the collar of the unions - which I think will be green. If they are, which they should be and for your build date, you will need the Eolys 179 or Infineum F7995 which has now been replaced with Eolys 'Extend'. You can still get all these from sellers, but stick with the newer Extend.
You can get these supplied with filling kits on the larger containers, or you can buy them separately. Wear gloves and goggles as you don't want this stuff anywhere near your skin or eyes.
It is gravity fed, video here.
The additive counter needs to be reset. Run a Global Test, when finished, select the engine ECU (which should be a Delphi DCM3.5) from the list and then from there you should find the relevant menu and option.
AS you can imagine you need to get access to that rear quarter to get the shield / cover off and to access the connectors. But the gravity alone should be enough to force the fluid in hanging from a support.
Yes reset the counter back to zero Colin.
I am handing this job over to my trusted garage although i will be resetting the counter myself.
Have been reading back through the 15 page thread regarding Eolys refilling and it seems it should be filled to max or as close as possible so will need to get a 3l kit?
I am not 100% sure on build date but if the push connectors are green its Eolys 179 or Infineum F7995 ( now Eolys 'Extend' ).
If its a blue connector will that be Powerflex ?
Eolys 176 ^ a typo Colin, but yes, 176, Infineum or Extend.
Your build date is 12075 (30th Nov. 2009) so will be green click fits, and too early for Powerflex (Blue connectors).
Quantity will be hard to determine, as it will depend on whether it has previously been topped up, what the mileage is now etc. This stuff doesn't keep once opened.
Don't forget in addition to resetting the additive counter, you will need to use Diagbox to also prime the additive circuit.
Thanks Marc
Mileage is 68k atm so gut feeling not been done in the past.
Never did the priming of the circuit on Peters after he filled it up, just reset the counter.
Taking car over to garage tomorrow night and they are doing the job on Friday and collecting on Saturday morning so should i prime and reset the counter before i drive it back?
And you know what's coming next.....
Ok so fluid has been refilled.
However did a Global test and zero faults even though the Service Light was on and the low additive level warning showing.
Finally went in to Repair and via the ignition/injection ECU managed to tell it that the tank had been refilled. As soon as i hit ok the Service Light went out but i also got a warning on the Lexia to make sure i tell the Multiplex Additive ECU the same.
This i think is the the ECU i should be resetting to Zero but i cannot find it.
All advice gratefully recieved.
Yours doesn't have a separate additive ECU Colin. But I think you need to prime the additive circuit which should be in one of same menus in the injection ECU. You'll just have to have a hunt about for it. I don't have my X7 any more so can't help - and don't have a suitable laptop yet for the newer system that I need for the new car.
Thanks Marc i will have a play about again later.
I did delve in and found the the level showing as a graph like in the live paramiters.
Just wondering if i may have already done the priming bit, i had 3 options to click on.
1.Refill additive tank.
2.Replace additive tank/replace additive pipework
3.Replace DPF filter.
I did #1 first which is where at the end i got the multiplexed additive ECU message.
i then did #2 in the hope i had found the additive ECU.
