1974 Citroen DS Safari 23 brake delay

Unread post by tony trans am »

Hi, I have a 1974 Citroen DS23 Safari and the brakes have a delay from when the button is pushed to when the brakes apply. What do I need to do to rectify this?
Thanks in advance.

I would bleed the brakes, just in case any air has got into the system. How is the suspension?

Suspension is fine, just the delay on brakes, can be quite scary.

Is the level not checked with the suspension at the highest position?

Yes you are correct Mike, the Hydraulic fluid level should be checked with the suspension on high on a DS!

Please accept my apologies on that, I was confusing it with my C5. You are BOTH correct, and I am not!

In fact I've deleted that whole post James as on the DS I believe the Braking circuit is also linked with the suspension and Steering. This was at the time before the systems were separated.

You may already have this, but there's info on bleeding the circuit here:
