1.6hdi fuel injectors

Firstly, Happy New Year to all.!!

I have recently discovered that the bolts holding my diesel injectors are loose., and obviously would like to torque them up correctly, something that I intend to do once the weather is a little warmer.
I also intend to replace the injector seals, and with the possibility of a injector bolt snapping in the head, I also intend to replace the lug bolts too..

My question is, having researched seal replacement in depth, although not a easy procedure to preform, but certainly not impossible. What size female torx socket would I require., as I'm finding it hard to find the information anywhere.

It would also be great if any other forum members who have performed the same procedure could share their experience, and any other hints and tips.

While I cannot answer your questions, might I suggest that, whenever you service the car, you check the injectors are properly torqued tight? I seem to recall that Volvo (who used the 1.6HDi engine) didn't have problems with the engine, and that one of their servicing steps was to check the injector bolts are properly tightened to the correct torque.

Thanks for the reply James, Sombody else said the same to me,hence why i checked mine, ther is a very slight diesel leak around one of the injectors, this is a very recent thing. Other than a diesel smell, there is no'blowing' on the injectors like on videos I have seen, but im wary of overtightening, so thought Id change the studs when the weater permits, and get them 'nipped' up to the correct torque.

I think that I tightened the injector to 10 Nm on my Peugeot. I broke 3 pieces and the reason is that the screw gets stuck in a part of the chain, if you think of changing the seal, the sealing compound is put there.

Can't remember the torx lug bolt size but a cheap set will have one in it..........mine did. However I could not get the set screw studs out of the head. I can feel when something is about to break and despite getting them warmed up and using Rocol freeze spray, the originals are still in there. Tips for renewing the seals and copper washers etc: Firstly, buy genuine. More expensive but fit good and proper. The black seal needs to have a drift size that will get the seal and it's lips tucked inside the centre tube. That drift is a pipe that is an interference fit over the tube going up the centre. You can press the outer dia of seal into housing with a wider drift Make sure you pick every bit of that old black seal out. Mine was impregnated in there good and came out in many pieces. When the black seal is fitted properly, it will show a silver ring around the inside diameters and be slightly recessed all round.
If it is showing egress then it needs looked at. 7mm allen key for the nuts. You can bed the black seal in this stuff and clean up excess. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/223043144612
