Refuel Citroen C5 V6hdi

I am trying to put diesel from a can into my car, but it only allows 5 litres, then overflows.Dial show 1/2 full
Any idea why

These have a gauge with pump in the tank, so may be a faulty sender unit....

Seems just doesn't like more than 5 litres poured down without normal refuelling spout . Just had to add day by day.

You can definitely put more than 5l in, you just have to do it slowly.

Now that the filler neck has an anti-misfuel device fitted, fuel that's not coming straight out of a pump nozzle has to trickle in. It can be done - I recently put 25l of diesel out of a drum using a syphoning hose. It took about 20 minutes or so.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.
