1.5 DCi engines
Are all the Renault 1.5 DCi engines the same and the power differences controlled by the ECU? Im asking because I know of a cheap Nissan qashqai that needs an engine. Plenty of low mileage Renaults with severe electrical problems that could be bought cheap for a donor engine.

1.5 dci are problematic have problems with, injectors, high pressure pumps, turbochargers and as a consequence of the above with crankshaft bearings. It's hard to find a good used 1.5 dci.

Thanks for that mate, I did a bit more research and it seems they arent as good as I thought. I eee loads of Meganes and Scenics selling for silly money I always thought it was due to poor electronics. Now I'm thinking more of avoiding them altogether.

I've been looking at Nissan Notes for a while now, thinking of getting a smaller car, their 1.5 Dci seems to have some huge mileages so I can't see it being all that unreliable.

I suppose you only hear the horror stories when something goes wrong? I had a Megane 1.5 it was easy run started instantly and pulled like a train.Gibbo2286 wrote: 16 Dec 2020, 10:53 I've been looking at Nissan Notes for a while now, thinking of getting a smaller car, their 1.5 Dci seems to have some huge mileages so I can't see it being all that unreliable.
The slight issue when buying a car in Ireland is that people don't get their cars serviced on time or at all in some cases. I like the look of the Nissan and for once the missus doesn't think it will be sitting in the yard with it's mouth open.
