New 2019 Dispatch

Post by Ninja21 »

Hi guys, i’ve just bought from a private seller a second hand 2019 Blue HDi for a window cleaning van, it’s a great van but i’ve just found out that the high beam doesn’t work, I’ve checked both bulbs and there good, according to the manual fuse numbers F23 and F24 in the engine bay are for each high beam however when checking i found no fuses in those locations, thought great that’s my issues but no after putting in 2 x 15amp fuses the high beam still don’t work or flash. The blue light on the dashboard does light up when the stork is triggered. All other lights work fine just no High Beam? Anyone any ideas or knowledge of what is or may be the problem.

Thanks 21

Hi. Something that will help is if you post up the VIN here (which will, for security reasons, be obscured so only Forum staff can read it). This will allow Forum staff to look up exactly what YOUR van had when she rolled out of the factory (as there can be variances over time). For example a van from one factory may have Bosch equipment while an identically specced van from a different factory might have Delphi equipment.

The best thing to do is get it to a dealer - you should still be within the manufacturer's warranty period (which started 07/02/2019). Don't mess about with it - get them to do it as it could end up being expensive if you mess about with the electronics. It may be a faulty unit inside the steering wheel / BSI or other if not the bulbs or a wiring circuit fault - you get the picture. Let the dealer do it and it won't cost you if not a bulb.

booked into a dealer and they couldn’t find any faults, so i’m back at square 1, they did say that they may need a good few hours further investigation but at £150 per hour i’m a little dubious that they will spend this time and not resolve it, very frustrating not being able to use high beam even as a flash to say thank you to other drivers...

The high beam doesn’t work but they cant find a fault??
I would go back and ask them to demonstrate the operation of the high beam to you.
Or is this an intermittent fault??
If the vehicle is still under warranty then its Citroens problem im afraid.

If it's 2019 then surely even commercial vehicles are under warranty? You shouldn't have to pay for anything - unless commercials are treated very differently to private cars.

Commercial vehicles have a better standard warranty than private cars, LCV's are up to 100,000 miles in the 3rd year Private vehicles are only 60,000 miles.

So never got around to sorting this High Beam issue out, the vehicle i have since found out has been accident repaired to the front nearside which is also where the fuse box is located ironically. Anyway cant see any damage to it or to the inner wing. A Diagbox scan is showing
Main beam headlights activation relay control fault, Open circuit or short circuit to positive.
Can anyone advise which relay (location number) for the high beam so i can check it.

Thanks
