C5 X7 Radiator and condenser fans

Both of these seem to have failed simultaneously on my X7, or least within a couple of weeks of each other. Mechanic says the resistors have both failed but the fans themselves are OK. But he says that the resistors seem to be hard wired into the back of the fans, and are not replaceable. Has anyone any experience of a successful repair to the fans? Thanks in advance, Chris
