xantia HDi drivers door loom

Unread post by rjohnson »

My 2000 HDi has suffered an electric fault with both the wing mirror and window operation. removing the door cover revealed a broken switch connector to the mirror but the garage reckons there's a fault in the loom affecting the windows.
I've sourced a used door at a breakers but the guy can't see where to unplug the loom from the chassis bulkhead. Any ideas??

The door loom is a continuation of the body loom and there is no connector :( The way to do it is to disconnect all electrical device plugs in the door itself and feed them out the side of the door as you remove it...

However...

You don't need to... It's very common that the S2 Xantia loom breaks wires where they pass between body and doors in the rubber 'concertinas'..

I can almost guarantee you'll find broken wires here...

They're not hard to fix :)

As Jim said above.
Expose as much wire as possible (not sure if access to the loom is available inside the A Post) and then use a pin, connected to a volt meter set to continuity, to pierce each wire and in turn checking for continuity at the switch ends.

Notice the BX is still top the list but sadly gone

The rubber covering can be prised off but you may find that you need to cut it open to gain better access to the wires. In the past i have done this by opening it up along the seam as it gives a better chance of re sealing with a small bit of silicone sealant and electrical tape and allows the use of some extended wires
