Desperate need of help Xantia rear caliper

Unread post by admiral51 »

Hi all of you wonderful people =D>
My Xantia is stuck in the garage awaiting its MOT because even after they tried a repair kit the blasted caliper keeps leaking.
So yes i trust them and they are old school, repair rather than replace but i am in desperate need of the correct OEM part number for the n/s rear brake caliper on my Xantia, Vin is in my signature.
I believe they have found a 2nd hand hand one but the asking price is £60 + vat + delivery and no real way of knowing it works until it actually arrives.
They have ordered 3 so far from the usual motor factors and sent them all back as they were wrong.

I have the dreaded courtesy car for as long as i need it ( until they get mine sorted  ) but looking online i can get a new part from Germany delivered in 4-5 working days, so Tuesday next week but just need to check the part number is correct and also let them check the disc thickness as they replaced them as well.

Cannot find the begging bowl emojie but ... [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o<

I am looking at This One as being the correct one but you all know me, very rarely correct :)

I have 2nd hand rear callipers for a W reg 2.0 HDi (110) saloon that I can't use. My cars are estates and they're not the same.
If they're any good, let me know

Might I suggest you buy a sheet or two of gasket paper as well? Then, when you have the calliper available, cut out a gasket and fit it between the calliper and the trailing arm. There is a known issue with weird corrosion between the calliper and training arm, and this will cause damage to the calliper over time, as well as pushing it off line.

At my request they have used some grease proof paper/baking sheet and all they need now is the blinking caliper, think the owners daughter was curious as to why Dad needed it for the garage and not the kitchen :rofl2:

Not like Sir Jim who if memory serves me correctly used an old cereal packet :?

I'm using one of the sites that has a copy of the original Citroen Service site: https://catalogs.ssg.asia/citroen/?lang=en
That certainly suggests the part numbers for 90 & 110 HDis are the same - 95651078, to suit discs of 224mm diameter and 9mm thickness.
However, that may be an approximation of the truth !

I don't have them at home, they're in my rented storage. I should get time tomorrow to fetch them.

On my first C5 I asked the mechanic to put some gasket paper (that I provided) between the rear callipers (both of which needed replacing) and the trailing arms. Unfortunately I never got to find out if it worked, as I was rear end shunted about 18 months later, and it wrote her off.

This may be tempting fate but what i have spent already the extra spend i need to find a way to sneak it under the Razor Wire from SWMBO, fingers crossed the old gal ( the car :rofl2: ) doesn't end up the same as your C5.
My boy bought a 12 plate Astra 10 months ago, spent a fair bit of hard earned cash on it, picked it up on the saturday, got written off on the wednesday when some muppet didn't stop in time

That one shows up as the correct OE part number - 95651078 (NFP from Citroen).

Did a quick look on Mister Auto and Pieces de Rechange (PSA heritage), but nothing there.
