Please can you tell me which part is shown in the attached photo (red arrow)? It looks like a cover to the start of the exhaust underneath the engine.
In the photo, the section of the part with the red ring around it is rattling against the component above. Perhaps it was welded and has come apart?
What would need to be done to re-fix the section shown ringed in red? Or is a whole new part needed, and if so what is the part please?

That’s the catalytic converter part of the exhaust that attaches to the Particle filter. The pipe you can see is one of the particle filter pressure pipes.
The whole catalyst will probably need replacing if it has rusted through. If it has worn through, you will start to get emissions warnings. So consider replacing it or put up with it until it falls off. But it will likely be picked up at an MOT at some point.
