Citroen c5 x7 windscreen replacement.

Unread post by Falka »

Hi all!

My 2011 c5 got its windscreen replaced. They told me the replacement windscreen has the same parameters as the factory one, but i have my doubts.. Engine and wind noises are both much louder since. :?
Can any check these windscreen numbers? (how much i got nicked by the shop)
I told them i want it to be as close to the original as possible.

My factory one is:
Saint Gobain Sekurit
DOT 39 AS1 M 91
E2
43R-00996
Transp. 75% min

The replacement:
Saint Gobain Sekurit
DOT 503 AS 1 M 21
E17
43R-00340

This gives most of the answer. https://beranek.agrrmag.com/2013/04/european-codes/

E2 means the original screen was made in France, E17 means it was made in Finland.
43R is the regulation number and is presumably the same throughout Europe
-00996 and -00340 are the Approval Numbers. These may be different as the screens are produced in different countries.

The important bit you didn't mention are the little identifiers above the E marking. On both of them the // means Laminated Windscreen.

The difference between DOT 39 AS1 M 91 and DOT 503 AS 1 M 21 I don't know but I thought that DOT was an American standard or regulation.

Thank you Paul!

Does the "Transp. 75% min" means that the factory one had a bit of "darkening film" on it?

No it means it allows 75% of the light to come through.

the // mark is also important as that means it is a standard multi-layer windshield. Both have the acoustic symbol, so that shows that it has noise deadening film in between the laminates.

Don't laugh, but the original CCC mark also means it meets Chinese Safety standard CCC E000472 :rofl2:

Marc, where is the acoustic symbol on the original windshield? The replacement windshield has an ear symbol on the bottom but I don't see anything on the original one.

Citroen standard factory-fitted X7 windscreens are all acoustic, so may not have the symbol, but aftermarket produced windscreens will to denote that feature for replacement purposes. Note: only the X7 Exclusive models had laminated side window glass too.

Interestingly, a friend of mine has a Peugeot 508 1.6 hdi with a factory windshield and it does have an ear symbol at the bottom. I guess it's just a Citroen thing.

Also on my X7 2010 exclusive only the front driver and passenger windows have ear symbol on them, the rear ones does not, but they are also double-glazed when looked at from above just like the front ones.
However, on my friend's X7 2009 also exclusive the rear windows do have ear symbols like the fronts.
All windows are original from the factory.
