My suspension was feeling a soft so checked fluid level via the Lexia - was about a litre short , so topped up and felt much better
However after a long run the pressure cap is losing fluid from the pinhole in the center - cap fault or something else ?
I'm fairly confident I did the top up level correctly

Re: C5 X7 LDS reservoir cap
You've over-filled it!
There is no setting in Lexia to indicate LDS fluid level, it is ALWAYS checked from the reservoir itself and with the suspension on the lowest setting.
The car should be on level ground, on the lowest suspension setting and the fluid should be between 'A' & 'B' as shown below:
If you over-fill it you are storing up problems, not least of which can result in a burst tank, or LDS fluid overflowing down the BHI and onto the electric pump housing and once the fluid enters this, it will mix with brush deposits, form a sludge and overheat, causing the fuse to blow and requiring a complete disassemble to clean.

Re: C5 X7 LDS reservoir cap
Thansk for the prompt reply -
Yep aware the software doesn't indicate level , used the following procedure
2. Checking and topping up the LDS fluid
CAUTION : The LDS fluid must be checked with the engine cold and switched off.
Remove the cap from the LDS fluid reservoir.
Connect the diagnostic equipment to the vehicle’s diagnostic socket.
2.1. LEXIA diagnostic tool
Carry out an global test.
Start communication with the suspension ECU .
Select the menu : Depressurizing the system.
Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
2.2. Diagnostic tool Diagbox
Successively select the following menus, on the diagnostic tool :
Customer delivery
Check of the suspension fluid level
- Definitely between A & B as per your diagram

Re: C5 X7 LDS reservoir cap
If you used Diagbox to depressurise the system, it should be ok, as long as you didn't allow the system to run and the suspension to rise again before competing the level check.
Make sure you have bled the steering rack too - if it was low on fluid - see my post here:

That’s sounds like a plan ! , lock to lock while running with cap removed on lowest setting ?

Yes, needs to be turned very slowly and not held at full lock; just complete lock cycles, switch engine off and wait for a while. There should be no Fizz.
