c5 estate boot lowering button

Now that i have a car with working suspension thanks to input from various people (it turned out to be the front passenger strut passing fluid back and as the return line is common thats why the front kept sinking!) i have a small problem with the button in the boot it beeps when pressed but doesnt lower the car anyone had problems or point me to the cause ? ,with having 3 bassett hounds lowering the boot makes a big difference!

Can you make it go up with the boot button?

just went and tried it its doing nothing i even sat on the boot to try and force it but the suspension just kicked in and leveled it off, its probably something silly just dont know my way around that part of the system
