C5 2004 window ticking

Unread post by rogerc5 »

Hi folks,
My driver's window has started ticking in a very annoying way when closed. It has done in the past and then stopped, but not this time!
I've tried putting the window down and holding for 5 secs and also putting it up and holding for 5 secs but to no avail.
Experience has taught me that before I start dismantling a consultation with someone here is prudent.
I was having trouble with the rear wash wipe not working but that seems OK after fitting a new battery.

Thanks for suggestions

Hi Roger,
Ticking? Like in an old clock, a regular sound, even when the car is stationary?
Or more associated with movement when driving?

I had a sound which you might describe as 'ticking' which was where grains of sand from a beach visit last year had got below the rubber strips. Wasn't scratching the glass, just making this annoying noise ...

Any help?

Thanks,
It happens when mobile, like the anti pinch is in operation- don't think it's grit but will double check.

Have you tried resetting the anti pinch?

the procedure is:

Lower the window fully using the control, leave it for a few seconds then raise it again, it should come up just a few centimetres.

Press the control again until it closes completely then leave it for a few seconds.

Well I tried several versions of the reset and it seems ok today, although that may be something to do with being very wet??
Just had the car checked underneath on garage ramp and it's like new underneath even as far as the original exhaust, so it's staying with us a while longer.
( had it for 13 of its 16 yrs.)

Thanks again
