Getting front drop links replaced next week. While the car is at the garage is there any "preventive" work that is worth doing at the same time (ball joints, bushes, etc) ?

I would see about examining the steering rack to see if there is any corrosion or signs of leaks. Checking on the Forum should let you know what to look out for.

The steering rack is checked every 6 months and after I had to replace the first one after 4 years of ownership!
