Hi everyone,
Firstly it nice to be with good company, you all seem to know your Citroen's, I have been a big fan of Citroen's since my mum brought a 2CV in '86, it's just something about the quirkyness and the continetal style!
Anyways, I recently got rid of my old Pug 106 XND (Dead gearbox an 'all), I picked up a very clean 'R' reg Xantia LX TD for a reasonable price. The car looks preety good and the milage is low (yes, it's been checked), although there are a few problems. I want to get the car as prefect as it can be and I was after some help.
1) The turbo whistles when pulling, but I think I have solved this problem from an earlier post in this forum [:D].
2) I am having the same type of alarm problems as also earlier mentioned in this forum. My local Citroen specialist says it is most probably the ultrasound sensors, he knows his Xantia's, he has owned enough of them, therefore I want to try and replace them. I have been quoted £20 per sensor, but I was hoping to find some on the internet, up till no to no avail. What is anyone elses opinon? Is this a good price?
3) The boot courtesy light seems to be very temperamental, I was trying to look if the switch was sticking but I can't seem to find it [:I]. Where is the switch? Has anyone else had this problem?
Sorry this post is so long, hope no one is asleep at this point [:)].
Thanks in advance for replies.
Jay [:-)]
Xantia with a few niggling faults, anyone help?

Hi Jay - and welcome to the weird world of Citreons [8D]
Actually the name is Citroen, not Citroen - but I too always get it wrong first hit - my backdelete button is quite worn on my keyboard [:D][:D][:D]
1) you're on track - we have a recent thread on this.
2) guess you can find them cheaper as electronic bits - but then you have the hassle of ensuring the correct part specs etc.
£20 for an electronic bit is cheapee for any car make !
3) I think this is a tilt sensitive switch inside the boot door. Earlier models (like the CX) had a mercury wetted switch as tilt switch - but these days mercury (quicksilver) devices are no longer used for obvious reasons. Guess either this switch - or the cable running to bootdoor is faulty.
You should in fact hear a faint rattle/click from the switch when opening the boot.

Hi Liakos [:)]
Found your thread :

No - it's not the same kind of troubles Jay has.
Jay is reporting a problem with the light in the boot (luggage compartment) - and the alarm system.
The alarm system in Xantia uses ultrasonic (sound sensitive) sensors as a part of the circuit.
These sensors are known to fail after a couple of years, and then you get false alarms.
