ZX 1.8 "howling" fresh air intake?

Hi!
I've just driven about 400 miles (600km) in my daughters (relativley) new '94 ZX 1.8. It's the first time I've driven it on motorways and as soon as you get up to 60+ mph there a lot of wind noise which seems to be coming from the fresh air system. The noise gets louder the faster you go - sounds like you've got a roof rack on the car! (Hav'nt!). Any ideas?

I'v noticed the same thing on my '93 ZX 16v. A bit anoying if you ask me.. Any ideas about a cure?
