What type of pump is fitted to the car?. The Lucas/CAV Rotodiesel DPA (?) type leaks from the top of the pump at the base of the large spring because of the load of the spring wearing through the aluminium top plate. The Bosch does not have this problem
Check with your local Lucas pump specialist, as I am sure there is a replacement top plate available. The last time I priced this job it was around £50.00 + VAT

I visited the local Lucas dealer. I was offered the top plate etc. for £97 fitted, however when I asked what the cheapest option would be he offered me 2 o-rings, free of charge, to seal the throttle shaft and briefly explained how to do the job. Spent a couple of hours in my garage tonight and removed the top plate to access the shaft, replaced the o-rings and the leak is fixed.
Thanks for your reply,
Barrie.

The diesel pump is leaking from the throttle shaft on my '93 205 XAD. I would like to try the o-ring option. I am hesitant to remove the cover cause I thought it would be complicated. The o-rings are just rubber ones? to fit into the the grooves of the shaft? That simple? Please help me with this quick fix.....

Do a search on this topic as I think it was covered quite recently. The poster just replaced the seals for pence and cured the leak.

Thanks,
I did find it on the C15 Van fuel leak topic. I took off the top cover of the lucas pump and it was worn down. I changed the top cover and put in new o-rings and top cover seal. The whole thing was about 22€. It stopped leaking and runs fine. It is not complicated at all. The most difficult part is to setup up the stop lever again. Too many springs on that left side. My 205 XAD is getting her miles per gallon once again. Thanks for all the info.
