Codes and series that I find are largely overlapping:
EW10A: 223280/223125 - 20DP51, 20DP64, DP64, DP51, DP5A
EW7A: 2232C5/223280/223125 - DP51, DPE1, DP64
I'm trying to find a manual gearbox replacement for an 2.0i engined C5 X7 but they are extremely rare, so I'm thinking of getting an 1.8i one (these are quite rare too). Did I miss anything or would it be OK to go ahead getting a 1.8i gearbox on the 2.0i?
Are C5 X7 1.8i (EW7A) and 2.0i (EW10A) gearboxes compatible?

You need to be sure that the gear ratios are exactly the same, as the ECUs will get upset if the engine RPM and road speed don't match what is programmed into them.

Oooh, I forgot about the ECU! I always assumed this would only affect the cruise control assistance while changing gears (which I never tried anyway). This matters because after fixing the gearbox I want to swap the final gear ( http://www.coupe406.com/documents/Tutor ... te_BE4.pdf ) to have less engine noise on the motorway.
I found the full data about ratios only here: https://www.automobile-catalog.com/car/ ... nfort.html , and the values seem identical for both 2.0 and 1.8.
