XUD Valve Shims Needed

Post by johnny625 »

OK now looking for valve shims for my Xsara.

I can't find the valve shim with the right thickness anywhere in my country. I need valve shims with 3.25 mm thickness and yet I have only found ones that are thinner.

Does anyone here have any shims with this thickness or slightly thicker?

I will be glad to buy some from you and pay the shipping costs.

Just been through my stock of valve shims, but nothing that thickness or just over.
The 3.25mm shim is pt.no. 0906 57, and still available from Citroen.

If you have anything like 3,50 mm or something like that I will still take it, as I do think that valve shims can be ground down to be thinner. Machining here is pretty cheap, I can get all of the shims ground down for a few euros and I am talking grinding in a proper grinding machine, super flat and super precise.

I don't think those I have here will be of any use.

The ad above refers to 13.42mm∅; not sure whether that's what you need or not.

What I have here are
15.35mm∅, but nothing thicker than 2.5mm
12.5mm∅, and nearest to your 3.25mm are approx 6, 7, 8mm thick

Is there a reason you just don't go to Citroen (or Peugeot) for the proper part, 0906 57 ?

Actually I went to the local Citroen dealer, they said they didn't had them in stock but I gave them my phone number and they said will call back. They never did. I just XUD's are getting too old. :(

They probably wouldn't have them in stock.
Just tell them that you want the item ordered, and that you have checked that it is still available.
The fact that it is a small order should make no difference.

Look what I found !! There from my Peugeot days when I used to build exchange cylinder heads. There must be nearly 300 shims, from what I remember you very rarely needed shims over 3. I had them all sorted but I`m sure some are in the wrong sections now. Mind you there are a lot over 3.
If any of you UK Citroen/Peugeot guys are near Reading I would gladly let you have them, for a small fee of course.

Hi there,
I know I’m jumping in on an old thread here but you don’t by any chance still have these shims do you? Cheers
