Right side of the Road
Yet another car crash outside RAF Croughton (Northamptonshire), where Harry Dunn was killed by the American "diplomat's" wife, Anne Sacoolas. This time, a car from the base ploughed into a brick wall.
You have to wonder about the thought processes of U.S. personnel there. A quick look on Google Earth [RAF Croughton UK] shows that no effort has been spared in roadmarking the base with DriveOnTheLeft signs and markings. There are even large signs, now, at the base entrance/exit reminding drivers to KeepLeft, according to press photos.
Too much R&R or PX cheap beer?

I think it's more likely the age old problem of 'Car in gear, brain in neutral'

Re: Right side of the Road
I can't understand it at all, after all it is perfectly simple, the right side of the road is the wrong side so the right side is the only side left after you eliminate the wrong side and hence you must use the left side!! What is all the fuss about?

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

Partly due to driving auto's me thinks. You at least have to pay some attention when driving a manual. Generally OK when in traffic, you do what everyone else does, the only time I drove on the wrong side was coming out of a cottage in France on a quiet country road - the wife soon let me know.

There you have it Peter, a moment's lapse of concentration and you either get away with it or it's a disaster.
One of my customers on his first visit to France drove out of the ferry port on the left, head on into a bus, all in his vehicle died, six of them, all family.
In America following the satnav I was directed into the wrong lane on a wide dual carriageway, like you fortunately no other traffic in the way.
I'm sure this lady's mistake will haunt her for the rest of her life and bringing her back to 'face the music' isn't going to bring the boy back or alleviate his parent's grief.

She could at least do the decent thing and come back to face the consequences.

Yep, running away doesn't help to restore anyone's confidence in anything.

But that's a human instinct fight or flight, I guess that she would have been advised what to do by her masters.bobins wrote: 24 Apr 2020, 11:19 Yep, running away doesn't help to restore anyone's confidence in anything.
I can't see any reason why she cannot in any case be tried in her absence.

Seems to be more a decision by her bosses to keep her unavailable.

I guess they've decided 'due process' doesn't apply in this case. Wonder why ?........

I wonder if arrogance is part of the problem? Some of the citizens of the Useless States of America believe that everything is better in their country, and so they can ignore everything that is not related to the USofA.

That's a pretty anti American view James, how many of their 360 million are 'arrogant' people?

I did say SOME. I have met arrogant Yanks who belittle everything that is not from the Useless States of America. I have also met United States Americans who (while they love their homeland and would never move away) accept that other countries have lovely things to offer. I will always welcome the latter US Americans.

Haven't met many Americans but all I have met were fine people, except one, my former daughter in lawHell Razor5543 wrote: 24 Apr 2020, 11:49 I did say SOME. It looks as though Anne Sacoolas was a spook and they are hiding her away.
They are often this way when such things happen, but completely the opposite when anything happens to them.
