MOT / CT

Took the wife's C4 for its CT (MOT) today, In France they now plug in a OBD reader as part of the test. Never seen that before

They've done it since the regs changed in 2018

Must be the first car I have had tested with the new regs, It was a bit of a surprise.

Do they just test the engine management system? does any fault codes fail the test?

They do a general test and if it shows a problem with emissions, air bag etc depending on what it is, it's a fail. I had a glow plug code thrown (cit HDI, normal), it was noted but with the comment 'not causing adverse effects to the environment' or something of that ilk. That was about 3 or 4 weeks ago. It's to stop people taking the airbag etc lights out of the dash.

Mine was low air flow, EGR. But still a pass.

As long as it passes the general exhaust emission test they let them go

Emmisions came out good, I heard a rumour that the EGR has a blanking plate, but I believe it's against forum rules to discuss.
