The FCF Newsdesk

Post by mickthemaverick »

I have created this thread as a place to post the items of news, fake or real, that have brought a smile to your face over the years.

I'll get it off to a terrible start with the radio report on local Devon radio I heard a few years ago:

"And now the traffic news: An elephant has been spotted doing a ton on the M5 motorway near Taunton; Police advise motorists to treat it as a roundabout!!"
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

I had a little giggle when I switched on the BBC news at 7am this morning. Reporters and cameras were at the Grandstand on Epsom Racecourse describing how in just a few minutes time they would be opening to start giving vaccine injections. The hub at the Racecourse was one of seven new centres opening today. The camera peered in through the windows with the reporter describing the area where patients would sit for 15 minutes waiting to see if they would suffer any allergic reaction. By the lunchtime news bulletin, they were interviewing an 88-year-old lady who was the "first person to be vaccinated at the centre."
And why did I giggle? It was in the "new centre at Epsom Racecourse which opened today" where I had my first jab in mid-December and my second one last week. How typical of the BBC not to let the truth get in the way of a good story.

To be fair, it's the government that's promoting these new centres.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

Of course I agree with you. The government opened it a month ago. The BBC thinks they opened it today.
