RT6 firmware

Post by patmacau »

Hey all, the micro Sdcard in my 2012 508 has got some bad sectors after my local dealership performed a map update. The result is a unit that reboots every 5 mins.

I've been quoted upwards of $1,100 to fix it so am looking at other options. I've been able to take an image of the card and restore it to another sdcard, and I'm just about up and running except for a few files that couldn't be recovered. I'm wondering if anyone out there has a copy of v2.75 firmware that I can use to restore a few files? The exact version on the unit is 2.75.d.2, but anything close would be worth a shot. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi (Pat?)

I can help you out with the firmware files - but a couple of words of caution.

Stick to the version you have -don't upgrade to 2.86 or you will loose configuration options of your vehicle. This will require a dealer visit to get the unit out of secure mode and require a download and configuration to restore parking assistance / any cameras and general functionality.

Also, be aware that the firmware on a USB can be inserted into the USB socket and when started up the RT6 will be able to upgrade from the firmware and restore missing files. Try this if you find your original copying method is not working.

After checking, I have version 2.77. So in this instance - I would not suggest copying specific files, but allowing it to do the complete upgrade, which should recreate any partitions and restore missing files.

I'll send you a Private Message with the info shortly.

Hi guys,

I don't think the firmware in my car has ever been updated 😁
Can you help me to update it to the newest version?

The SW version is RNEG2.86.B.1

You already have the latest Firmware! This was and is likely to be the last version they release for the RT6 which has long since been replaced now.

Hi Marc!

I have some troubles with my RT6 (Citroen c8 HDI 2.0 2013). It starts - works for some minutes - freezes - starts again...and so on...). Firmware Version is RNEG2.75.C.5. Do you think it makes sense to change the inside micro SDCard(GB) to a new one and make a "Firmware update" with CD with the same Firmware or with 2.77 (you mentioned you have 2.77 and it´s not good to update to 2.86 because of loosing the configuration). 2nd thing would be: how do get my Nav-data back on sdcard? - Would it be also an option to clone the old SDcard to a new SDcard? So many Questions - Thanks in advance for you help! Greetings from Austria! Markus

Hi Markus.

There has been a table put together by others regarding the firmware versions and which ones tend to be problematic when upgrading. It all depends on the electrical architecture of the vehicle (CAN2004 or CAN2010) and the original firmware version installed.

If you have V2.75 already installed, then you should be able to go directly to V2.77 or V2.86 without issues. This of course is under normal operating circumstances doing a normal upgrade. But if you are having suspected SD card problems and will be creating the partitions and updating the internal SD card, then I recommend you take a copy of the configuration files to ensure your options and equipment can be restored after the new SD card is installed.

If you want to backup your user data configuration, you'll need to use Mira scripts to do this first just in case. We don't cover Mira scripts here, but if you search for it on the web, you should find all you need to do this, before changing the SD card.

Info on Mirascripts here:

If you order a firmware update CD from your dealer for a few Euros, they will only supply the latest version (2.86).

Hi Marc!
Thanks for your advice! I will try to update to 2.86 after backing up the old sd card and checking the can version. Thanks!

For a C8, you will have CAN2004.
