After coronavirus

Unread post by daviemck2006 »

This is an idea nicked from another forum I frequent. What's the first thing your planning on doing once the lockdown is finished? I'm thinking about going round the NC500 again. I will probably do it in the unmentionable 4.4 litre German thing, because it is sitting with a full tank of fuel and it will need a good run and clear out before being put up for sale. And the thought is to do it as soon as the lockdown is lifted, because being in the far north I will get a head start from the foreigners and the locals will all be in the pub cos us scots are mostly a bunch of alkies and the roads will still be clear

I’ll be self-isolating from the madness of everyone going out all at once for at least a week.

Pub lunch with my currently remote friends in a sunny garden will be my first adventure! :-D

After ?.....not planning anything because there is not an "After date" known yet. Millions will still be at risk way past July

Find out when the first Citroen meet in my area is, and then arrange time off so I can go there and meet up with you all, celebrate with those who survived, and reminisce about those few (very few, I hope) who did not.

I think l’ll simply continue to live like this. I’m quite enjoying people staying 2m or more from me. They can stay like that forever for all I care, apart from about 3 of them!

I agree with the sentiment, not so sure about the execution, I think Pavarotti has the edge for me :-D

I'll be going out for a bloody long drive.

Last year was bolloxed up for me when I was diagnosed with Lymphoma at the beginning of June. As a result I had to cancel all foreign (and many domestic) journeys, so no trips to France and no summer holiday. My PET scan in January showed a "complete metabolic response" and so I began to plan for our journeys.

I'm still on blood tests as I now have thrombocytopaenia (low blood platelets) and so didn't get away again until February this year, albeit for only 10 days.

I was all set up to make many trips to Europe while we still can under EU rules and then try to fit in our proposed trip to the USA (Route 66 and more - postponed after my diagnosis) but most of that looks unlikely again! Admittedly my discomfort is as nothing compared to the losses suffered by some people and, basically, I just have to suck it up!
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

Inside every old person is a young person wondering what the hell happened.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties Paul, hopefully both you and the country will soon be fit to drive wherever you want! Of course after my pub lunch my first real trip will be the long awaited March Meander to be renamed when I know the new dates!! :-D

For me, the resumption of parkrun. Can't wait for them to start up again... Missing the social side of it and the cake and coffee in the cafe at the end...

Also, getting out on my bike for a proper ride... Hopefully that'll coincide with my neck brace coming off and being able to visit my local bike shop for a new helmet and lycra!

It'll be good to properly go shopping and driving... Can't drive with my special 'necklace' in place even if I wanted to :(

And most of all, to be able to be all intimate again and hug friends... Missing that terribly... We runners generally love a big sweaty tight hug after a good run :D I know I do!

You'll need a new rear tyre as well Jim, with all the 'puter riding, the front will be fine.
Lycra and sweaty hugs, possibly too much information there....

I'll be taking my old girl for a tootle
