Potholes - on the cheap

Unread post by white exec »

This, today, from the UK Chancellor's budget...
"And there will be a new pothole fund, worth £500m a year, which is enough to fill 50m potholes," he says.
[Guardian]
So, that's £10 per pothole. What?? #-o
No wonder the sub-standard black stuff (universally supplied by UK tarmac suppliers, but pretty much unknown in several other EU countries) just falls out in short time.
What a racket. Surely one for the NAO...

£10 a pot hole?? You couldn't get the team of blokes and their tea urn there for that. Having said that, they haven't got far to travel to the next one!
Sounds like they're filling them with spit and sawdust.

Not a pothole but a pit left by Northumbrian Water opposite my daughter's front door - over a year ago, from fitting a water meter.
I was over there this morning and see they have filled it in.
Odd thing is they sent a letter to my daughter asking for access to it - it is out in the open and wasn't on her property to start with.
