Need help with wiring diagrams Xantia 2.0HDi - Non Starter please!

Post by Rhothgar »

Does anyone have a wiring diagram to cover the following faults please:-

All engine related.

Vin Number VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

0110 PERMANENT - Inlet air temperature signal Short circuit to + or earth
0215 PERMANENT - Injection system supply relay circuit: Short circuit to earth or open circuit
0403 PERMANENT - EGR Circuit: Electrovalve circuit short circuited to earth
1402 PERMANENT - EGR Throttle Electrovalve: Throttle electrovalve in short circuit to earth

I suspect the injection system relay is the one causing the non-start. However I have no idea where it's located.

Here you go: (you missed a 'B' out of the VIN by the way :-D )

Most codes are on the Wiki - each section is ordered by code in ascending order:

Hi Marc

Thanks for the ultra fast response and the information. I did write the VIN number from memory. It'll be RHZB no doubt.

I'll have a root through this. I take it 1201 is the relay I am concerned with. Injection Pump relay must equal injection system relay I guess.

Am I being thick here? None of the relays are on this diagram or circuit. I think I'm looking for 1201 and location thereof.

For now, I am going to just start pulling relays and testing them to see if they work and then substituting. Problem is from the diagnostics, I tried some miscellaneous actuator tests and two EGR relays didn't click and also the injection relay.

There's been field mice in it too so the problem could be much deeper. Not got full voltage at pump so I've taken a fly lead to that to run it constantly. Car still doesn't start. When I first put the key in this morning, the transponder light came on but eventually went out after I tried cranking it 5 or 6 times for 10-20 seconds at a time.

I thought I had all the factory diagrams at home but I'm missing a lot for the X2. Is there a disc I can buy somewhere with all this information on?

I can't see 1201 - only a wire with this code?????

1304 is the engine management multi-function double relay.

Wire 1201 is the Fuel Pump Control

Check that the double injection relay (1304) has a good live supply to pins 3,11,15 & 8. Check with a voltmeter and a bulb (not an LED type) test lamp, make sure the bulb is nice & bright. The relay looks like this with a 15 pin brown connector & located in the ECU box under the bonnet.
Loss of current at these pins is often caused by rotted wiring under the radiator (10PR harness).
You could try jumping power straight to F2 & F4 in the BF01 fusebox.

I've got home and had a rifle through my factory manuals. I do actually have the volume for the power unit. I mistakenly thought it would be could engine or injection.

I can't even find 1201 relay in the relay location under the bonnet on Page VIII or in Relay location in passenger compartment on Page IX. Am I going daft or does the car therefore not have these relays?

Marc. Can you tell me please how you determined 12.11 is the correct diagram as opposed to 12.10? Mine does have Air Conditioning so you are right but I wondered if there is a clue in Service Citroen that confirms this somewhere.

Cheers Wheeler.

Also, can either of you tell me where the fuel rail pressure sensor is please? It looks to be 1321 and UNDER the common rail? It's showing ZERO pressure at cranking even when I hotwire the fuel pump. I've got fuel coming out of the filter so the pressure is definitely getting to there. Two pipes go to that: a supply and a return. Either the feed or the return goes onto something which appears to tap into the common rail which has two or three wires coming out of it but my mate that measure fuel temperature?

To check for the live supply, do I pull the relay and simply probe the wires with the ignition turned on?

I'm hoping it has voltage to those. If not, I can check connections and wiring for obvious short. My problem is then, if it does have, what should I see where on the other side and is there a way to test that relay?

Your Build date, plus Engine Type, plus A/C being fitted and the Correct Emissions Standards Type and the Engine Management System fitted (Bosch) which will also determine the correct wiring diagram.

The 4 wires I mentioned should be permanent live even without ignition on, for ease just unplug the relay & measure straight at the pins.

Yes 1321 is the fuel pressure sensor, remember this is really for measuring the high fuel pressure so the couple of bar the low pressure pump provides will barley even show on the reading. Check that you have a 5v supply at the fuel pressure sensor with ignition on.
The double relay is a good starting point so confirm the pins I said then from there we will know if we need to look before or after the double relay

There wont be a great deal of difference, the main differences are if its an 88 pin single plug ECU or the ECU with the 3 plugs. The double relays are generally wired the same way.

I've done a crib sheet for ease of reference in PDF format for future posts to go with your 12.11 diagram Marc.

Can I upload it somewhere if you think it would be useful?

We can't accept PDFs, but thanks for the offer - it's one of the reasons why I put most of the codes on the Wiki - as they are generic PSA codes for many models are easily accessible from a web browser / smart phone. Which makes me ask the question - did you miss the link in the post with the diagrams?

No. I didn't miss the list. It's what I built the crib sheet from!

No wonder I'm confused - you're offering us a resource that we already host.... :?: :) At least you've got what you need.
