94 Xantia stiff front and help to id spheres

Post by OlemTheGolem »

Soooo, Saturday morning my 94 Xantia got well stiff in the front on my way to work. Sunday I checked fluid level, it was about 0.2 l under min. Did some citrobics to no avail. Forgot to look at the front height adjuster, but it rises and lowers fine with all settings. However it is riding slightly high when in normal mode. Pump does not seem to run more often than normal, and rising from service low after a night parked takes about 1 minute 30 as it used to before the fault.

The spheres are well past their service life at nearly 9 years since last replacement.

My plans where to change all in April after mot.
If needed I will order up new ones.

Any idea to what else to check? I will have a look at front height adjuster this weekend as hopefully the snow has gone by then.

Added are some photos of my front spheres, I've tried to check the part numbers online without much luck. Any help identifying what I need, or matching comfort spheres would be great!

So from your VIN you have a XANTIA 5 DOOR SALOON 2.0 i (XU10J2) Manual gearbox 5 without active suspension and fitted originally with UREPAN front corner and accumulator spheres.

The first picture is a Front sphere for a 1.8 Petrol - which have 70 Bar pressure (too high).
The second picture is for a Urepan Membrane, part: 95451376 (correct pressure), but you could also have a Desmopan membrane (see below)

The Front Corner spheres should be part: 96178589 400 CC Volume and 55 Bar Pressure.
The Rear Corner spheres should be: part: 96178590 400 CC Volume and 30 Bar Pressure
The main pressure Accumulator sphere is part: 96154588, 400 CC Volume and 62 Bar Pressure for a Desmopan membrane.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply! I'll go ahead and order the correct ones. Weird they got the spheres wrong as this has only ever been served at a Citroën dealer since new (until I got my hands on it).
