Hi, my S1 Xantia"s steering has started getting heavy, any ideas on why ? its not all the time. noticed that have a slight leak on the accumulator sphere, would that have anything to do with it. thanks Terry.

Air in the fluid will make steering heavy and often notchy.
Check the LHM reservoir for signs of bubbles - dip a sample with a small clear container, after having driven the car.

It's a Xantia, odds on it will be the UJ at the bottom of the column..... squirt some lubricant onto it from behind the driver's wheel.

I would second Richards diagnosis, sounds like the UJ is trying to seize up.

Check the aux belt if it's slipping as well

Yes that too, it was a problem on the BX's and XM's.
