2011 DS3 1.6 P0087

Post by tomjyoutwit »

Afternoon all,

Had this fault and another intermittently lately. Abs changed my air filter and done a 100 mile run today with the 87 error coming back near the end of the journey. I get the engine management light and the ESP fault strangely. Any ideas what I should check?

Many Thanks

Don't think I have the VIN for the DS3 - pop it up and I'll have a look.

Ok, the recommendation is the fuel filter. This fault is down to lack of fuel pressure in the fuel high pressure common rail. It can be caused by a blockage or an air leak on he fuel filter most commonly. The fuel filter should be replaced on this engine every 60k KM or 32k Miles. Especially if you are having intermittent difficulty starting the engine or if it is stalling.

Of course there can be other causes in the fuel system, but go with the cheapest and most common option first.
