ZX CV boot fitting.

I'm fitting a new CV boot to my ZX 1.9I, the new boot kit(GKN) does not include a new plastic bush to go in the recess in the shaft, is this missing so I just use the old one, or is one not required with all boots, must confess I can't work out what the purpose of it is for. The new boot is a nice fit on the shaft with out it.

Leave it off if you like, it probably means the boot is an original fit item, I wonder what its for?

Just to update this topic: the plastic bush has a groove in it's underside which I assume is to allow air in and out of the boot to equalise the pressure in it, so I just refitted the old one.
