2009 C4 Grand Picasso Head Light Advice

I've never been too impressed with the dipped beams. I think I have halogen bulbs, should I be using Xenon H7 Fitting Bulbs? What's the official recommendation? Ta

They have to be legal and e marked. You cannot retrofit the actual headlamps - Xenons to halogens, but you can purchase ‘upgraded’ road legal bulbs from auto centres. These will often claim 50-70% brighter or additional range. But be warned, they will not last as long - brighter, longer range = less life. Your choice.

But don’t be tempted to put LED bulbs in headlamps designed for halogen bulbs, as the beam patterns will not be the same as intended and you will fall foul of the law by dazzling drivers.

So should I have H7 Xenons or Halogen? I am not sure which is original?

H7s are right (if it doesn't have HID lamps) - they are halogens, but filled with Xenon. The term 'Bi-Xenon' has been adopted for cars with HID lamps - which are also Xenon filled....

I always thought the lights on the Mk1 Picasso were excellent - we did run uprated bulbs, but they weren't really necessary.

OEM Xenon Directional lighting are completely different technology and operate differently to halogens with a bit of xenon gas in though. But like I said, if you go for extra light throw or brightness on a premium halogen bulb, expect far shorter life expectancy - you can't have it both ways.
