Hi, I have a 2012 C4 VTR+ Auto. I bought it in the summer and it has been perfect, coming into winter I have noticed a very annoying problem.
When I come to the car first thing in the morning, if it has been cold enough to frost the screen, I have a lot of condensation on the inside of the windscreen. Secondly, I have no heat coming from my blowers with or without AC on. There is a noticeable change in air pressure when I turn the dial from cold to warm however no matter how long the car is running, I get no heat at all.
I have tried to search for a known issue but all I get is the problem from the older shape with the vent flap motor. Is this also an issue with the newer models or could it be something else? Any help or advice appreciated.
Cheers everyone.

Ok, so put the time of day aside for the moment - can you confirm under normal temperatures when the car has been running for a while that you get no variance in temperature from hot to cold when adjusting the air direction?
Secondly, temperature aside, when you have all the vent flaps open, put the fan on a decent speed, change the air flow direction from top, to chest level vents, to floor (allowing time in between of 15 seconds before changing the setting). Does the air distribution change?
Checl the left and right hand side under each test - as if you have bizone climate control (I'll confirm with your VIN) you may find it is only happening on one side.
This will determine whether it is the air distribution motors or the air mixing motors that are at fault.
If this is the case then yes, depending on your car model and options (please post up your VIN for confirmation) the motor gearing can shred the plastic gear, leaving the air mixer or the air distribution in the last position before it broke.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, my VIN is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]GiveMeABreak wrote: ↑16 Nov 2019, 12:33 Ok, so put the time of day aside for the moment - can you confirm under normal temperatures when the car has been running for a while that you get no variance in temperature from hot to cold when adjusting the air direction?

Does the air distribution change? The only time I get a difference is when I out AC on it will go cold, not ice cold but cold. When I change from cold to warm, aside from no real temperature difference the airflow does change slightly. You do get a very slightly room temperature feeling to the airflow but it is only noticeable if you out your hand on the vent and your looking for it. You wouldn’t notice if you weren’t trying to feel for a change in temperature
Check the left and right hand side under each test - as if you have bizone climate control (I'll confirm with your VIN) you may find it is only happening on one side.- The air distribution does change to the zone it is set to when I change from top to chest to floor

Re: Blowers Working, No Heat
Ok, so this puts a different spin on things...
You only have Single Air Conditioning, without any electrical motor reducers or air mixers, and no supplementary heating resistance for rapid cabin heating.
So from what you have said your problem would seem to lie with the air mixing control. The first diagram in the table, so the right hand control cable attached to the temperature dial. So this is the place to start looking I would suggest. Maybe the cable has detached itself from the control dial or deeper at the flap end.....
Looking at the diagram you only have the items highlighted in yellow and not the motor reducers and equipment that I have crossed out in red.
You have the cable operated system as shown below - which will operate the air mixing flaps manually and also the air mixing.

This is how the temperature is changed: "A" The user actions the control: Temperature. "B" The temperature control operates a gear which pulls or pushes the cable depending on the command. "C" The cable operates a gear on the aircon unit: The gear is connected to the mixing flaps. | Air Distribution Function "D" The user actions the control: Air distribution. "E" The air distribution control operates a gear which pulls or pushes the cable depending on the command. "F" The cable operates a gear on the aircon unit: The gear is connected to the distribution, demisting, ventilation and footwell flaps. |
Air Intake The gear located on the air conditioning unit is operated by a stepper motor controlled by the air conditioning control panel. "G" Air intake flap: Open. "H" Air intake flap: Closed. |

Re: Blowers Working, No Heat
Thanks for the info, I’ll take a look at it in the morning and see if that’s the case and then go from there. Appreciate the help.
