Xantia coolant tank and level - questions

Post by ashy90 »

I cant believe I am asking something so simple, but how does one know the correct coolant level on the Xantia?

I don't know if all Xanti'as have the same coolant tank as mine, but its terrible - a small black tank on the left (looking at engine), not see through. Nor can I see any min or max markings at all.

Also, does it have a low coolant level warning? If it is the plug going to the tank, should it bring on a warning if it is unplugged? Because mine doesn't.

I’ve always just filled it up to the top. Seems to work. I occasionally get a warning light when parking on a sideways slope, so there must be some electrical bits.

Check in the Haynes Service Manual (also designated here as the "BoL", nevertheless there is alot of useful information).
Sure there was a picture describing both types of expansion tanks and theirs min and max coolant level indicators.
I remember, that when cold the level should be in between the two marks, but best would be to check it for yourself.
