Do you have to install digibox updates?

Post by Ramc4 »

Or can you just install a version such as 8.55, or how does it work?

You should really only ever install the version that will cover your vehicle’s manufacturing date and maybe a year or two later. From version 7.65 they removed some of the manual telecoding options, making it difficult or not possible to manually configure some ECUs.

So it depends on you vehicle build date.

In this case, just install the stock version 7.02 and update it to 7.58. Your car is too old to use Diagbox anyway, but as said, Diagbox includes the Lexia 3 software encapsulated - and will automatically launch Lexia for your vehicle when you connect it up. It will detect the model and year, and offer you Lexia or Scantool. Choose Lexia and then supply the RPO (build number) and you are away.

Diagbox software is only used on models from about 2008 onwards - but includes Lexia 3 (for Citroen) and Peugeot Planet 2000 (for Peugeot) for older vehicles. Those older programmes were no longer updated, so will be the latest versions available. If you don't know your RPO number, post your VIN here and I'll tell you.

I have v8.55 so that will be no good?

I can't even get into the car atm to get VIN as have no keys but key from dealer should be arriving this week so will post vin when I get it.

I assume the cars transponder will only be activated/"live" when the key is in the ignition, I don't won't the cars transponder trying to communicate with my new key before it gets programmed etc?

The VIN can normally be found at the bottom left of the windscreen (and on the V5 logbook), in a small clear area in the black surround.

V8.55 is far too new for a 2006 vehicle. Having this later version installed will also update the firmware on the VCI and that may be a problem for earlier vehicles.

Try installing the 7.02 to 7.58 update again.

As for the keys - if the car is locked - expect the car alarm to go off when you open it with the key. Also, you will need to programme ALL the keys you have including spares at the same time, and before you start you must have your confidential customer code available.

Thanks.

The dealer assured me I will get the code when I pick up the key.

There is no car alarm also so at least that's one positive thing in this whole saga.
