Ok. So if understand this correct:

1. put my trolley jack under the right corner.
2. put the car at lowest position
3.disconnect battery.
4. raise the car and remove the wheel
5. manually depressurise and replace the strut.

Is this correct?

Is a bleeding procedure needed after the replacement?

Gustav, it's all in my illustrated post here to save repeating, including a link to the bleeding procedure. The suspension Sphere needs removing before you can disconnect the piping to the strut:

Great link! Thanks!
One last question: Do I leave the car in normal or lowest position when disconnecting the battery?

Well to depressurise the system using Diagbox, you need to physically support the front (or corner) you are working on first, then once it us supported, put the car in the lowest suspension position and follow the instructions in Diagbox to depressurise the system, which tells you to disconnect the battery IIRC. Otherwise when disconnecting the battery, the vehicle will start to operate the pump!

Ok. No diagbox so manual depressurising for me. Is it the same procedure in the beginning otherwise? That is: Support the right corner, put the car in lowest position and and then disconnect the battery before manual depressurising?

Yes, that's about it - have something to catch the fluid from the sphere and some cloths - make sure it does not drip down onto the electrical plugs anywhere.

Yes - either Total LDS or Total Fluide DA. There are other brands of LDS, but it must meet PSA specifications.

I did have one more thing I am wondering about. Is the the 0.5 bar in the bleeding procedure totally necessary or is it doable without?

If you mean that is the 0.5bar needed to re-pressurise the system after work has been done on the hydraulics the answer is yes. This is because the pump is not self priming. However, it is not hard to do this (citroenxm, a forum member, has said that he has, after wiping the filling cap area clean, primed the system by wrapping his lips around the filler and blowing hard!). I (for my facelift C5) got a reservoir cap (from a scrapyard), drilled a suitable hole through it, fitted a tyre valve and purchased a cheap bike pump from Poundland.

I don't think they have a 'Poundland' in Stockholm, thank goodness.

But it is not always the case - you may get lucky and it will raise itself after a while - I've depressurised mine many times and never needed to start it off by introducing pressure. So you may be lucky.

Would anybody like to give me a clue as to what may be the problem? Message on my X7 Tourer says "Suspension fault. Maximum speed 55. I have not seen any leaks around the car where it has been left standing This has only happened a few hours after having one new rear offside tyre fitted. The car raised and lowered okay for the work to be done. I am a complete non-expert and you'll probably tell me it could be any number of several issues. So all pointers gratefully received. :-D
My other car is a 2cv
